What a Ride: 30 Women, 30 Stories, #1 Bestseller

Have you ever been offered an opportunity and turned it down, to regret that decision later?  I'm guessing you have if you are over the age of about five.  I'm happy to say that I nearly made that mistake earlier this year, but at the last minute, I took the leap of faith.

I was asked to join a group of women in a compilation book titled, Voices of the 21st Century: Women Who Influence, Inspire and Make a Difference.  It seemed interesting enough, and I love to write, but I had just done another collaborative book a few months before not to mention I had a lot going on in my life at the time.  I had made the decision not to do it and had even deleted the email with the invitation.  However, I spoke with Gail Watson (the driving force behind the book), and something just told me I needed to be a part of this journey.

Voices of the 21st Century is made up of 30 short stories told by the 30 incredibly brave women that lived them.  There is a little of something for everyone in this book.  Stretching from topics on abuse, domestic violence, birth, death, all the way to political unrest, mindset, life choices, and business ownership.  These women showed the courage and strength to fight through their challenges and never surrendered when the going got tough.

Life is not a success only journey, and how you handle adversity will ultimately define who you are.  Life is a marathon, and what we do during the difficult times shows more of who we really are than when things are going well.  Life is easy when everything is going our way.  It’s when the chips are down that our true character is revealed.  Do we face down our fears and ultimately come out on top, or at the very least go out fighting?

These 30 women fought when the going got tough and came out on top.  Then all came together, from different cultures, races, ethnicities, nationalities, yet with a common goal… to tell their stories in hopes that conversations will be started and help others realize they are not alone.

The book was a labor of love for each author, and all were excited to see it come into existence.  However, the icing on the cake came on October 18, 2018, when the book was launched and became a #1 Amazon Bestseller and International Bestseller.  Thirty strangers came together and accomplished something spectacular and became advocates for one another in the process.  My tribe grew by 29 amazing women that I know I can always lean on when I need it.

So, before you say no to that next opportunity that comes your way, think long and hard about it.  What if I had said no to this journey?  I wouldn’t be a bestselling author nor would I have met these incredible women that I now call friends.
