Let This New Year Truly Be Something New
Well, here we are in that same familiar place. It’s the beginning of a brand new year—the time when we make serious plans to execute our goals over the next 365 days (but really 366 in this leap year). We vow to pray more, lose weight, rid ourselves of toxic relationships, turn over new leaves, spend more quality time in God’s Word and do a number of other things that will lead to better versions of ourselves. We are on fire in January!
Then comes February and March, and that passion to live out our resolutions begins to diminish as life catches up with us. Before we know it, we’re at that final quarter again.
Ladies, to be honest, it’s really time to make those changes in our lives so we can achieve those things we desire. It’s 2016—the time is now. You owe it to yourself. I owe it to myself. We all owe it to ourselves.
With this fresh start, it’s important to find those individuals who will stick by you and hold you accountable to what you’ve set out to achieve. I’m not sorry to say that I am one of those people for you—you’re stuck with me. You’re going to live this year like you’ve never lived before. And I expect you to do the same for me. There’s no more holding back. We are keeping it real in 2016.
It’s certainly not going to be easy—there are going to be mountains to climb, struggles to overcome, temptations to resist, haters to block out, and a myriad of other obstacles that life is going to throw our way to try to keep us from living as the strong and courageous women we were meant to be. But this year? Well, this year is different. All of those things are not going to defeat us, and they are not going to keep us from rising up and showing the world just how truly great we are.
No, not this year.
Ladies, there’s no better time than now to step out of our comfort zones and step onto the paths we know we were born to take. Don’t let yourself hold back this time around. Instead, be free and renewed.
Maybe, just maybe, you will find yourself in an unfamiliar place at this time next year—and that’s a good thing! Let’s go!
