It’s hard to shake the memory of something that made an entire nation stand still. Thirteen years later, the world still remembers the horror and tragedy that struck the U.S. on Sept. 11, 2001. This Thursday, people gathered together to commemorate the occasion and remember loved ones who were lost in the day’s heartbreaking events. President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama observed a moment of silence at the White House in the morning while other celebrities, including Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, and Robin Roberts took to twitter to share their condolences. Using the hashtag #NeverForget, celebrities and non-celebrities joined together to share their thoughts about the day and memorialize the victims. Search for the hashtag on Twitter to see what others had to say, and remember to #NeverForget.

Earlier this week, video footage surfaced of former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice brutally punching his then-fiancée and now wife, Janay Palmer, in February of this year. Initially, after Rice’s arrest for domestic violence earlier this year, the NFL put him on a two-game suspension, but since the video footage leaked, he has been removed from the team and suspended from the NFL indefinitely. On Tuesday, in an interview with ESPN, Rice broke his silence about the incident saying, “I have to be strong for my wife. We are in good spirits. We have a lot of people praying for us, and we’ll continue to support each other.” Palmer has been sympathetic toward the event, choosing to side with Rice and defend him throughout the ordeal.
