Hope on the Red Carpet: Minnie’s Food Pantry Gala

Cheryl “Action” Jackson has always been a woman who intrigues me with her zeal, confidence, and energy, and it was such an honor to feature her as one of Hope for Women’s “25 Women Who Inspire” in 2014. I can’t even begin to describe how excited I was to be able to support Cheryl at her 10th annual Minnie’s Food Pantry Gala this year, especially when I learned that the one and only Oprah was the event’s keynote speaker.

I arrived at the gala with a full heart and my adrenaline pumping. The event was full of high energy and several influential individuals, and I was truly impressed by the entire experience. I even had the opportunity to meet Cheryl as I was navigating through the hotel and ended up on the same elevator as this inspiration of mine. I formally introduced myself to her, and I can tell you right now that she is just as wonderful and pleasant in person as I had always imagined!  Celebrity Stylist J. Bolin and Pastor Donnie McClurkin were also on this same elevator.

Throughout the evening, I was able to meet and share my experience with Monica D. Ware from Be You! Girl magazine, Monique Johnson from Epitome Magazine, and the beautiful twins of Beautifully Said Magazine, La Trisha  McIntosh and La Tasha Taylor.

I was also able to have engaging conversations with the lovely Priscilla Scherer, Arian Simone, Anita Hawkins, and many other remarkable individuals who attended such a memorable event. Chatting with them confirmed just how much of an impression that Cheryl’s drive and go-getter personality have made on a countless amount of women in need of hope and reminders that they can achieve their dreams.

I am so grateful that I was able to attend the Minnie’s Food Pantry Gala last month, and I am fully confident that Cheryl will continue to inspire and empower those around her in incredible ways. She is a woman who knows her purpose and pursues it wholeheartedly. My hope is that all of us will live such meaningful and passionate lives as we continue to build and leave our legacies for those who follow.  https://www.minniesfoodpantry.org/donate/
