Aisha Curry

Women everywhere are working hard to make a difference in their communities and the world at large. Some have overcome tremendous adversity and find ways to keep going. Others have blazed a path where few women have gone before. But, all of them are making a difference in some way. Each month Hope for Women seeks out and talks with one such woman thanks to the nomination of readers. Read the stories of women much like you and be inspired to make a difference today!

Hope for Women: Who has been your biggest inspiration?

Aisha Curry: Gosh, I don’t know why but I’ve always had such a hard time answering this particular question. I feel like my answer isn’t the norm of how most people respond, but I have to be honest. Truly, there is no one person or thing that inspires me. I’m inspired by different people during different seasons of my life. I find inspiration in everything, and I’m inspired daily through the word of God. Currently I’m being inspired in this young girl by the name of Eva Igo who appeared on the show World of Dance. Her positivity, vulnerability, transparency and fearlessness really speak to my heart.

HFW: What do you do to encourage others?

AC: I try to lead by example, and for me it’s of utmost importance that who I am on social media is who I am in real life. I love to encourage others before they even start. I’m that girl who will cheer for you until you start cheering and believing in yourself. My industry is all about inspiration and encouragement. I’m a firm believer in “what you exude you will attract.” I want to give encouragement so I too can receive it in return. We all need it.

HFW: What obstacles have you overcome?

AC: I’ve overcome so many obstacles and still have mountains to climb. I’ve overcome low self-esteem, depression, suicidal thoughts, father complex issues, the traumatic death of my sibling and so much more. However, each of these things I celebrate because they made me the woman I am today. It’s amazing how our pain and voids in life become the best teachers when we embrace them as a part of our story.

HFW: What do you most enjoy about what you do?

AC: Giving hope, inspiration, guidance and encouragement to others. I love what I do. I take nothing for granted, and I am always honored when people choose to work with me because I know there are thousands of other coaches they could have chosen, so when they choose me, I’m grateful.

HFW: What’s one message you wish all woman could hear?

AC: Everything you need lives on the inside of you. Everything you’ve gone through can be used as an instrument to aide your evolution. Focus on where you’re going and not where you’ve been, because those where just moments, people and events; they do not define you. Go out into the world and live powerfully.
