“Count Your Blessings”
Before this year is over, put on a pot of coffee or tea, plop down on your sofa, and close your eyes as you take the first sip to reflect back on how God has blessed you in 2015. Seriously. Try it! Take a bite out of your life to actually reminisce on how things went this year and keep hope alive for even greater things next year. In other words, count your blessings. So many people didn’t get a chance to be where you are today. It’s a sure blessing within itself that you are reading this article right now. God has more for you to do on this earth. He has a plan for you, as Jeremiah 29:11 says: “For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the Lord. “Plans to prosper you, and not to harm you. Plans for a hope and a future.” With that being said, think of a few blessings to count now.
Actually, once you get started, you will probably be on a roll! Not only that, but you may even find yourself yelling a wholehearted, “You are awesome, Lord!” He is totally awesome! We can do nothing without Him. We need His blessings. We need His divine favor. Did you know that to be blessed means to be highly favored? It’s true. So if God has blessed you this year, do the math. You are totally favored. Get excited about it and keep the hope alive for everything else that God has in store for you!
You may even want to have a “Blessed Party.” That would be fun. Invite some friends over one Friday or Saturday night and have everyone count their blessings over food, fun and fellowship. Be different. Be you. Be blessed.
Actively chew on the fact that God loves you and never forget that He has truly been with you this year. He has protected you, provided for you, encouraged you, enlightened you, and has not forsaken you…even if you felt like it at one moment or another. If you think about, He has been faithful.
No doubt, life gets busy sometimes. Furthermore, when it does, you may even forget to acknowledge all the good the Lord has done for you. But no more of that! It’s time to sit back or throw that party and reflect on His goodness. It’s time to count your blessings. Do it before the ball drops in 2016 and keep your faith!
