That Little Light of Yours
All individuals are uniquely made and have gifts that they can use in bigger ways than they possibly ever imagined. There’s a song that says, “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine. This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine. This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.”
There is something special in every one of you—a talent or gift that you can use to make a difference in someone’s life. You don’t always recognize or use it because you may feel inadequate or ill-equipped. You don’t always recognize or use it because you may feel your past is too tainted, and you’ve messed up too much that God can’t use you. But, God can use you. He can use you! He can use your writing, your voice, your drawings, your testimony, your smile and a countless amount of other qualities of yours to encourage and help others in their journeys of life.
Whatever purpose you are called to fulfill, know that God will equip you to complete it. Whatever your past may be like, He will use your struggles, your failures and your mistakes in a powerful way—if you let Him. You are a powerful vessel. You are someone’s light.
You may never be recognized on a worldwide stage or receive an applause for the blessing you bestow on others, but God sees and will reward you. Never underestimate the power of what God has given you. Not everyone can preach like Paul, sing like Whitney Houston or donate great wealth like Bill and Melinda Gates, but you can tell the love of Jesus. You can pray for a lost soul. You can give someone hope of a brighter tomorrow. What you have to offer the world counts.
You know there is something special within you, but you doubt yourself. You ask, “Can I truly make a difference?” The answer is, “Yes.” You were created by God for a purpose, so be bold, be willing, and let your light shine!
