"Oprah's Life You Want Weekend" Was Exactly What Attendees Needed
Oprah's “Life You Want Weekend Tour” rolled into town at the Newark, New Jersey Prudential Arena, and Hope for Women Magazine was there to join in all the fun and over-the-top excitement, along with the more than 15,000 people in attendance. Friday evening began with something called “Oprah's Sunrise,” which was a multi-sensory experience narrated by Ms. Winfrey herself.
Then out of the floor she appeared, in a jewel tone of royal purple and to the sound of thunderous applause. The moment had arrived—we started the journey to living the lives we want, lead by Oprah Winfrey.
There is so much to share and tell about this magnificent event. We were taken on a journey of Oprah's life: she shared about growing up in rural Mississippi, then being sent to live with her father, and her journey from anchorwoman to the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN).
We laughed, we cried, and we danced, but we were also challenged to do our work.
In the midst of what appeared to be an enormous amount of frivolity, we did a number of mental and deep, internal exercises that related to creating the lives we want to live. After all, this was the “Life You Want Weekend.”
Mental and emotional exercises weren't the only things on tap for the “Life You Want” attendees—we also participated in some physical exercise, as well.
Oprah introduced us to SoulCycle, where she—along with 50 of her personal friends—celebrated her 60th birthday. She brought SoulCycle to us. SoulCycle is a premiere, full-body, indoor cycling workout that was founded by Elizabeth Cutler and Julie Rice as an alternative to fitness routines that felt like work. SoulCycle combines inspirational coaching with high-energy music that benefits the mind and body. They train world-class instructors to teach the SoulCycle method, which engages and empowers riders in a way that leaves them mentally and physically stronger than when they arrived.
And 15,000 of us experienced the empowering energy of SoulCycle.
SoulCycle Soul15 was lead by Stacey Griffith, one of the most energetic women I have ever seen since Susan Powter (remember her?). This was more than just exercising—it was empowered movement that included encouragement and inspiration while moving your body. This was 15 minutes of energy sent through the roof.
Hope Readers get to have their own SoulCycle Soul15 experience.
