The pandemic has brought on a variety of challenges for non-profit organizations. In an article for Forbes, Jacqueline Tabas stated, “Amidst the Covid-19 crisis, non-profit organizations have faced onerous financial burdens.” Many of these organizations had to be put on pause in order to follow COVID-19 guidelines, which stunted their growth and influence among their communities.
So many non-profit organizations are now for the time being operating remotely and rely on volunteer-led initiatives and donations to strengthen their mission. Many of these organizations focus on leading projects to tackle society’s largest ills and further the welfare of our civilians. They need your support and backing to help power their mission. Volunteers are the backbone for non-profits, as they come together as one to strive for improvement in their community. This guide will provide ways to empower these organizations during this difficult time.
Here are some ways to support non-profit organizations!
1. Share on Social Media. Numerous people are working remotely, attending to their family and are often dealing with daily chores around the house. If you can relate to this, then spreading information through social media platforms is an excellent way to show support for these causes, if you are unable to donate or are especially busy. Social media is free, can increase their reach and even draw in donations to help fuel their cause.
2. Volunteer. Volunteers offer tremendous relief to non-profits and more often than not, keep their cause operating. As attested by Wendy Stebbins in her composition, “Volunteer for a non-profit to make a difference. Volunteers often pick up what governments can’t provide, such as distributing free meals to the hungry.” Volunteering is also associated with overcoming mental and physical health issues like depression and stress. Furthermore, renders you a sense of fulfillment and purpose.
3. Donate Money or Supplies. You can donate to non-profits in infinite ways. Donations often have huge impacts and can be very valuable in tax benefits. As emphasized by Robert Vaux in a report, “People who donate to a non-profit may claim a deduction of their taxes.” Do not worry if you are unable to donate money to non-profit organizations. Supplies and non-cash items (food cans, clothes and stationery) are also essential. These can help cut down the overall costs of these organizations when hosting events, drives and giveaways, often towards supporting social changes in their local area.
