Life Refresh: Begin Again
Find yourself stuck, sidelined, shamed or silenced? Has life backed you into a corner with financial ruin, relationship bankruptcy, an addiction relapse or significant weight gain? It’s easy to blame ourselves for our circumstances, to get bogged down in discouragement and toxic thinking. As a new season begins, rediscover new and healthier patterns of living. Here’s a few ways to regain your confidence and begin again:
You’re not starting from scratch but from experience
Before starting a new chapter in your life, reflect on your past. Use previous experiences as a learning opportunity, assessing what went wrong and how you can improve. Accepting your past and forgiving yourself for the mistakes you made in your old life gives you a foundation for starting over. Taking the time to reflect also helps you gain a new perspective. By reflecting on past experiences and pinpointing what inspires you or motivates your actions, you can identify the steps that need to be taken to alter the trajectory of your entire life.
You’re willingness and courage to begin matters most
Some of us start over willingly and others are forced by circumstance — nonetheless, it takes great courage to move from mediocrity to carve out the extraordinary life you’ve always wanted to live. Find the strength to start a new adventure of fearlessness in pursuit of your dreams. Remind yourself that this is not how my story will end. We are born fearless beings with greatness instilled within us. Begin again, let today be the first day of a new journey, one paved in greatness to a life of service, love, abundance and prosperity.
Be kind to yourself no matter what
Decide to do this from the very beginning. Make a pact with yourself that no matter what you think or how you feel about yourself, you’ll commit to treating yourself kindly as you attempt to begin again. Your mind may be swirling with negative thoughts — acknowledge the cynical thinking and simply choose not to believe what you hear. This also goes for the criticism that may come from others. You can’t let what you think or others say drag you down into self hate. It’s hard work to begin again when holding yourself to unrealistic expectations that can cause an inability to get up, dust yourself off and get back in the game.
Regardless of the situation, are you willing to step out in faith and begin again?
You may not feel like you’re making any progress but there’s profound change and growth happening below the surface. To tap into the benefits of this growth, you must be willing to begin again.
Know that you can begin again anytime you choose. Allow yourself to begin again, every day, in every part of your life — fitness, organization, productivity, self-confidence, creativity, family, self-care, travel, money, and more.
To begin again is to open the window, even a crack to let the breeze of grace come in. It’s a call to stop running from our fears and take small steps towards becoming the brave women we were made to be.
