Spring DIY Spa Remedies: Four Ways to Treat Yourself with Self-Care

Have you found yourself feeling a little more exhausted than usual nowadays? If so, it’s okay. You are not alone. Life gives this sensation of the “new normal” that to achieve, we should stretch ourselves to the max. And being a woman, this standard feels maximized in most cases because you are a mom, a wife and so much more.

But your self-care should not go neglected despite what life may throw at you. Wearing the multiple hats of a woman can be draining. So why not give yourself the personal boost needed to be revitalized? Remember self-care is essential not to survive, but to be the best “you” to share with the world. It does not take much to transform your stress into some nice relaxation z’s.

Have you thought about taking a spa moment? If you find it hard to take allotted time for personal self-care. No worries, you don’t need to take a whole day or even make an appointment or wait in a long line. Everything you need can be found in your home.

Have you been using those hands excessively lately?

A moisturizing scrub seems to get you the confidence you need to keep the momentum going. But our hands can sometimes go unappreciated. It is not necessarily a “mani” that is the cure as much as a nice scrub for weekly or even monthly maintenance can keep you feeling refreshed.

You would mix together 1 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp sugar and a teaspoon of almond or grapeseed oil.

Apply the mixture to your hands. A small amount goes a long way and massage in circular motions until your hands are completely covered. After a few minutes give them a good rinse with warm water, then gently pat them dry.

Bonus tip: Afterwards you could use one of your favorite hand lotions.

Has your skin been looking dull?

The first thing most people notice is our faces. So why not brighten that smile with revitalized skin. Take a look around your kitchen because we are going to go tropical. You will use papaya and pineapple as these fruits help with brightening the skin. Then, add some yogurt to help tighten the skin with a mixture of honey. Apply it to your face and leave for about 10-12 minutes, then rinse.

Bonus tip: If you do not have both items around your home, you could use pineapple juice. Pour into an ice cube tray, freeze, and then rub it over your face for 3-4 minutes.

Has it been a minute since you relaxed your body entirely?

You have been trying to book that vacation to the beach, but life has a way of bringing detours. Well, bring the beach to you. Turn on some fun beach tunes and fill your tub with a nourishing milk bath. It is time to show your body the queen you truly are. Look in your fridge for a gallon of whole milk or milk powder, or you could pick it up on your way home from work. You will add a few cups of whole milk to the bathwater with essential oils and honey. Get creative here! Use your essential oils to create the tropical or relaxed vibe you’re looking for.

Bonus tip: Place some candles around the bathtub to set a nice aroma and floating rose petals to indulge in yourself (you are worth it).

Maybe you have been doing a lot of crunch time lately?

You have not found the time to sit for more than an hour? Our feet are also important when it comes to self-care. So here is a treat for your feet. You will use a mixture of equal quantities of oatmeal, cornmeal, sea salt and olive oil. Also add only a few tablespoons of aloe vera gel to get a mask-like consistency, then add a few drops of peppermint oil. Apply to feet and massage in. Leave for a few minutes then wash off. Your feet will thank you later for taking the time to rejuvenate.

Bonus tip: This mixture is also fantastic for soothing bruises, itchy skin, inflammation and muscle aches. You can also add lavender oil.
