Women Wednesday with Catrina Tate

#womenwednesday

Across all Hope's social media platforms, this biweekly series will highlight inspiring women to know.

Hope Magazine is a team of thinkers, seekers and creatives who find inspiration in movement, exploration and sisterhood. We want to create meaningful relationships inspired by real women and their stories - all designed for the way you live today!

Meet Catrina Tate, Vice President of Retail for TCU & Co-Chair for the TCU Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Taskforce

A native of Gary, Indiana, Catrina now currently resides in Indianapolis where she leads Teachers Credit Union’s Central Indiana, Plymouth and Northwest Indiana markets, managing over 1.3 billion in assets.

Catrina studied at Ivy Tech and IUPUI, obtaining a degree in Business. She is a world traveler who has a passion for fitness, outdoor activities and spending time with her family, especially her husband and two sons.

Giving back is very important to Catrina. She serves as First Vice Chair for Girl Scouts of Central Indiana. She also launched her own scholarship, “The Catrina Lane – Tate Scholarship”, at Ivy Tech Community College in 2018. Catrina’s inspiration is to put a stamp on the future of young women who come behind her.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by those who came before me. I am inspired by fulfilling my purpose and seeing my accomplishments. I would be remised if I didn’t mention my parents and someone in finance who I learned about: Gail Pankey – Albert. She was the first female minority member to hold a coveted seat on the New York Exchange. When I started in banking twenty years ago most of the people in executive positions were men. Gender balance has become a thing. I want to be known as a trailblazer, someone who reached back for other women and stood for what was right.

A fun fact about yourself:

I am the baker of the family. I love desserts and passing this love on to my family and friends with every slice of cake. I used to sit in front of the stove waiting for my grandmother’s cakes to get done. She told me the most heartfelt stories during this time. Not only did she help me find my purpose, but she helped me fall in love with cake. Funny, but true: I look at the dessert menu before I look at the food and I order dessert before I order my food.
