Vulnerable Moments {the stuff we don’t like to talk about}

Have you ever operated in a moment of discomfort; one that had been brought on by yourself? The kind of moment where you would give anything to catch the words that are flying out of your mouth and reel them back in, sling them on the ground and stomp them out of existence. Maybe the words you were speaking were TRUE but the tone in which you delivered them were strikingly offensive. Like nails on a chalkboard, the tone gets increasingly more piercing the longer the nails slide down the board. Recently I found myself in the thick of this scenario! What makes it even worse, is that it involved a family member! Can I just say, “Ouch!” A conversation [...]

Summertime {and the livin’ is easy}

This time of year my family hums and sometimes belts out the George Gershwin tune, “Summertime, and the livin’ is easy…” EASY! Is it? This is the time of year that moms all over the world either successfully survive the summer or the summer successfully survives them! This summer, this mama, was DETERMINED to survive; and to survive I needed to prepare. And more often than not we, the mothers, are stuck between the push and the pull! Yes, training our children in the way they should go, is somewhat task oriented. Often we wrestle with our mothering have to’s that leave our mothering want to’s blowing in the wind. Are you ok with that? I’m NOT! I certainly wrestle with the [...]

Our Day of Diagnosis

“Excuse me, but we are The Lewis’ ” a statement that runs through my mind frequently when I think back to “OUR DAY OF DIAGNOSIS”. All too unfamiliar, all too unexpected; Are we ever ready for a diagnosis? Are we ever prepared for a diagnosis? In my opinion NO but then again as a believer in Jesus, YES! “Will you journey with me through OUR diagnosis? I promise for it to be painful yet inspiring, confusing yet hopeful, uncertain yet eternal.” This is what I felt the Holy Spirit whisper to my soul as we encountered that very day. Maybe I couldn’t quite explain it that way at first but through a very ORDAINED journey God revealed His miraculous to [...]
