Move Forward!

“And the LORD said to Moses, “Why do you cry to Me? Tell the children of Israel to go forward.”
Exodus 14:15 NKJV

In the above scripture, Moses and the children of Israel are on the banks of the Red Sea, and pharaoh and his army are in HOT pursuit behind them. The children of Israel become very afraid and start to complain to Moses, and then Moses does what anyone would do. Anyone. He sees an enormous body of water in front of him and the millions that GOD has delivered from slavery, and pharaoh and his army, behind him — so he called on the LORD. As a matter of fact, in verse 14 Moses tells the children of Israel, “The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” But notice GOD’s response… He said, “What are you crying to Me for? Tell the children of Israel to move FORWARD”. Move forward??

He gave no other option.

GOD is a progressive God! He’s into forward movement, not backwards. He’s into multiplication and addition, not subtraction. He’s into to having His children look up, not down.

GOD told Abraham and Sarah who had NO children that He was going to multiply their seed greatly, so that no one would be able to count all of them!

In Luke 9, there is a tremendous crowd of people who came to hear Jesus speak. As the day goes on the disciples tell Him that He should send the people away because it’s over 5,000 men (plus women and children) and now they’re getting hungry and there’s only five loaves of bread and two fishes. In verse 13, Jesus plain and simply said, “Well, feed them.” He then took the five loaves of bread and two fishes and lifted them up to heaven, blessed them (multiplied them) so much that there was not just enough to feed the 5,000+ crowd, but there was also twelve baskets of food left over!

In 2 Kings 20, King Hezekiah is sick unto DEATH. Isaiah the prophet goes to the king and says, “Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.” The Bible says that the king turned his face to the wall and cried out to the LORD. Before Isaiah could get out of the king’s front yard, the LORD sent him back in to tell the king that the LORD has heard your prayers and seen your tears, and He’s going to ADD fifteen years to your life!

I tell you, the LORD is into forward movement, multiplication and additions!

In Psalm 3, David is in great distress! He prays to GOD, saying, Lord there is an increase in those who trouble me, and many rise up against me. But then he said, “But YOU, O LORD are a shield for me, my glory and the One who lifts up my head!”

Have you been against the Red Sea and pharaoh’s army? Have you been barren but yet GOD kept telling you that He’d multiply your descendants? Have you ever had to feed well over 5,000 people with just a fish sandwich?

Whatever your situation — GOD is telling you that with Him you can move FORWARD, He’ll increase you and give you something to lift your head up high for!

He specializes in things we call impossible!
