Let’s not Fall Back. Press Ahead

We made it to the last half of the year. Fall has begun, the air has become crisper and sweaters, comforters and blankets have been pulled out of storage. However, I’ve noticed that once the hustle and bustle of summer stops, the slowing down of fall begins, allowing more time for some to pick up old habits, old mindsets and even old relationships again. Believe it or not, most people during this season cozy up to the things of the past instead of using blankets and comforters to keep them warm. Crazy right?

Now some of you may say, “Why is it so crazy?” Some even begin to rationalize and say, “It wasn’t that bad” in reference to old habits, “I was making it bigger than it was”, “He/she wasn’t the issue when I think about it, really it was me”, “There were things that I did that I could’ve done better”, etc.

Well, I would admonish you in this season to not take FALL literally! Don’t FALL back into anything that you’ve overcome, moved on from or been delivered from. A new season is just that — a time to continue to press ahead and experience new things. If you were looking for a sign, this article is it. Yes, that bad habit was bad sis… It was preventing you from being the fullness of who you were created to be. No sis, it wasn’t your fault! He wasn’t worthy of your time then and he’s NOT worthy of it now.

I know we’ve heard the definition of insanity as “doing the same thing expecting a different result”. However, the definition of insanity in the Webster Dictionary is “unsoundness of mind or lack of the ability to understand that prevents one from having the mental capacity required by law to enter into a particular relationship, status, or transaction or that releases one from criminal or civil responsibility.”

Sis, is this where you desire to reside? It prevents you from having the mental capacity required even by law to enter relationships, statuses and transactions. Do you know what that means? That the past is literally a set up to keep you and prevent you the access required to obtain what God says and intends to be yours.

The business deals or transactions, the relationships (romantic, marriages, business, divine connections) and the statuses (financially, socially, spiritually), I ask again, do you know what those particular relationships, statuses and transactions are? The ones that were ordained for YOU! But because you willingly choose to FALL for the tricks of the enemy, you allow the plot and plan of the enemy to steal, kill and destroy all of the above.

Use this season to press past the callings of the familiarity of the past. Just because it’s comfortable and cozy doesn’t mean it’s meant nor good for you! Anything that God ordains for your life has no ability nor strength to leave your life. If it was necessary for your life, it would have remained.

It’s in the seasons of uncomfortableness when we stretch and grow. It is normally in these times when we begin to see the blessings we truly desire (without settling) begin to manifest after the growth required within us has taken place so we are able to obtain and maintain the new blessings.

Let us not take this season in its literal sense and fall back into destructive and counterproductive mindsets and actions, but use it as an indicator to continue to press forward and allow ourselves to shed the old and die to the things which haven’t served us so that we can obtain what deserves us (that which God ordained before we were yet in our mother’s womb) without distraction.
