I Know His Name — AND He Knows Mine!

Thus says the Lord, “ Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine.”
Isaiah 43:1 NKJV

Just last year, 2010, the United States conducted the 23rd census in our nation’s history. A tremendous undertaking to count every man, woman, boy, and girl living in this country. The results? There are approximately 308,745,538 residents in the U.S. alone. And it’s estimated that the U.S. population only accounts for 5% of the world’s total population. Five percent?! That must mean there’s a whole lot of folks on this planet called Earth.

Yes, there are! As a matter of fact, it’s estimated that there are 6,897,100,000 souls currently in the world. That’s nearly 7 BILLION people . WOW! Can you count that high? I know that I can’t! With so many people, how do you not feel like you’re just a number? How could we even matter to God? How could God possibly be concerned about the minor details in our everyday lives?

Well, He is. He’s very concerned about EVERYTHING that concerns us! Psalm 138:8 says that the LORD will PERFECT that which concerns us! In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus tells us not to be worried about what we’ll eat or drink, and He says don’t be worried about what you’ll wear — those all sound like details to me! He says that our Heavenly Father knows that we have need of these things, but seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all of these things will be added to us.

In Matthew 10:30, Jesus says that ALL of the hairs on our heads are numbered. All of them! So when you notice some strands in your combs and brushes — God starts counting again! Every strand of your hair is accounted for in heaven.

In 2 Samuel 22:7 and Psalm 18:6, God hears your voice and your cries enter into His ears! Have you ever been in a store and heard someone calling your name or saying “Mom” and you didn’t bother to turn around because you didn’t recognize the voice? Well, God KNOWS YOUR voice and He stops and listens to you!

In Isaiah 38:5, He hears your prayers and sees your tears!

In Jeremiah 1:5, God says that before He even placed us in the womb of our mothers - HE KNEW US! And not only did He know us, but before we were even born, He sanctified and ordained us!

In Jeremiah 29:11, He’s constantly thinking about you! And He has PLANS for you - plans to give you a HOPE and a FUTURE!

Daniel 5:23 says that God holds your breath in His hand, and owns all of your ways!

In Zechariah 2:8, it says whoever touches you, touches the apple of GOD’s eye!

And in Isaiah 43:1, He has called you by your very name and He says that you belong to Him!

While the number of people on the earth at any given time is a staggering, mind-boggling number, it doesn’t matter to God, only YOU do!

You’re important to the Lord.

What a undenying case you have just made for each of us that we matter so specifically and so significantly to HIM! If only I could hear you preach this live….You’d have me on my feet and hands held high!

Aleysha, do you think this side of heaven we will ever “really get this?” I know in my heart of hearts this is true, but yet there are days that I think, “God, are you there?” This word is being spoken over & over on the HFW blog and other places I happen to read - His banner over us is LOVE and I believe He is asking His kids to declare it over & over again. Amen! He just used you. Last week it was Laneice and this morning I edited a new blog that came in and guess what the message was? You got it!!! HE LOVES ME!!!!!

      Hi Susan,

Many people won’t be able to comprehend the scope of God’s love for mankind. I really don’t think any human brain is capable of its vastness.

All Believers go through from time to time. It’s those “valley” periods that are designed to draw us closer to God. David said that he was just passing THROUGH the valley - he wasn’t staying there! :-) (Psalm 23)

What I do know is John 3:16 and Jesus’ promise to NEVER leave or forsake me. I’ve been going THROUGH a valley experience for a period of time now, however I know that the Lord is going through it with me - and that I’m on my way OUT!!

As the singer/song writer James Fortune said when he cried out to God while he and his family were broke & homeless, “God, don’t You see what I’m going through?” He said God’s response was, “James, you’re going to have to TRUST Me even when you can’t TRACE ME!”

Yes, Jesus loves us! This I know, for the Bible tells me so.

      God bless you Sis,
      Aleysha
