Rejoicings in Hope - to blog or not to blog

Blah - Blah - Blah! Blog - Blog - Blog!

I wonder if that’s how the word got started. Blogging, an Internet phenomena, is quite fascinating. Isn’t it astounding that so many people have so much to say. There are blogs about everything under the sun and even about the sun itself! Are you a foodie? a fashionista? a nutritionista? a politico? There are blogs just for you by people just like you!

Stay-at-home-mom’s are big on blogging. I was an SAHM for many years during the 60′s and 70′s and I blogged often, but it was called letter writing back then. My grandma loved my letters and told me I had a gift for writing. Tell that to someone who feels empowered by a pen and what do you get?

What an exciting time we live in - oh sure there’s enough trouble to go around and the cares of this world could choke you if you let them - but I believe we should all live in wonder, with joy, the way God intended. The Bible says, He came to give us life and life in abundance. (John 10:10) We are encouraged, by the same gospel writer, in his blog in 3 John verse 2: Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.

Yes, I really just referred to John’s epistles as blogs! Holy Spirit-written letters to like-minded people. In NO way do I minimize or mock the Word of God when I say that - blogging, in this context is quite spiritual (holy, even) and we are exhorted to participate by our brother Paul in Ephesians 5:15-21, when he writes, …but be filled with the Spirit and speak to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs. And, again in Philippians 4:8, …whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy - meditate on these things.

This is why I do it:

My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning The King; my tongue is the pen of a ready (skillful) writer. Psalm 45:1

This is my #1 writer’s guideline:

Let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my Strength and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14

Thank you, the readers, for the opportunity…
