Everything You Need to Know about Manifesting

On Jan. 1, 2021, I sat down with a pen and paper and wrote down some goals I wanted to manifest for the new year. I wanted to save enough for a dream vacation to Hawaii, get published in more national magazines and get pregnant with baby number 3. With the blessing of God, some hard work and the power of manifestation, I was able to achieve all three goals!
If you want to focus on your dreams, desires and hopes for 2022, may I suggest adding manifesting to your monthly, weekly or daily routine? Although it sounds complicated and confusing, everyone can manifest their goals with a just a little help. Here’s what you need to know to get started.
What is manifesting?
Let’s start with the basics. According to Merriam-Webster, manifest is something “clearly shown or visible.” So, when you manifest a dream, it means you can clearly see it in your mind.
It’s like when you picture your favorite dessert so vividly that your mouth starts watering. You can picture yourself achieving your dreams and desires so much that you are no longer hoping for it — you already know it’s going to happen.
Is manifesting real?
Believing in yourself is always a good idea. High self-esteem is linked to being more assertive in expressing your needs, feeling confident in your ability to make decisions, being able to form secure and honest relationships, staying realistic in your expectations, being less overcritical of yourself, and feeling more resilient through stress and setbacks. These are all things that will help you reach your new year’s goals!
Research in Berkeley Well-Being Institute also says that having a growth-mindset and believing we can do something means we are more likely to enjoy challenges, build skills more easily and live a fuller, more meaningful life.
If you are religious, manifesting goes with prayer hand in hand. You can ask God for direction and guidance, while picturing His answer and blessing at the same time.
How can I get started?
Ready to manifest? Start by writing down what you want to manifest for the year, whether it’s a new job, more money, deeper friendships, or anything else. Then, make time to reflect on your manifestations throughout the day or the week.
One popular way to do this is through the 369 Method, where you write down your affirmations three times in the morning, six times in the afternoon and nine times before you go to bed. The act of writing it down doesn’t make it happen; however, it keeps your goals and dreams at the forefront of your mind throughout the day.
You could also just set aside time to journal every day or practice meditation or prayer to reflect on your goals. The important thing is you are thinking about what you want throughout the day. These reminders push you to continue working toward your goals, whether that means applying for more jobs, signing up for a side hustle, or calling your friends to set up a coffee date.
What are you hoping to achieve in 2022?
