~Tribute to Mom

I want to take a moment to salute the hardest working people I know. Let’s hear it for the moms! Yep, that’s right, as you sit in front of your laptop go ahead and give yourself a little pat on the back. Just make sure you don’t do it while anyone is looking because I can not be certain of the consequences! And please don’t do it at work because I can not guarantee you a job elsewhere.
Anyway, how many moms out there do you know that concentrate on only one thing? Do you hear that? I believe it’s the sound of crickets chirping because I am sure that there is not one person who can say they know a mom that only wears one hat.
As moms we are home makers, maids, cooks, wives, nurses, therapists, lovers and theologians to our children (and husbands). That doesn’t begin to add home schooling or working outside of our home. No matter what your daily schedule looks like, moms are the busiest people on the planet!
Over worked, under paid, and under appreciated; but let’s face it, you did not “sign up for this job” (whether you chose it or it chose you) for the fame. You signed up to be a mom because you had and have love to give. So, day in and day out, you work tirelessly to make sure your family is well taken care of.
That may mean working a 9-5(or 6 or 7) at a bank, or restaurant, or one of thousands of career choices. For other moms, it means working a business out of your home in addition to taking care of your family. Still others have chosen to home school or stay home and concentrate their full attention on the home. No matter what your manner of providing for your family, you deserve a standing ovation.
You see, you are the hero who makes your world tick. In your children’s eyes (and your husband’s, too), the sun rises and sets with you. If you have ever taken more than a weekend away from your home, you know firsthand the consequences of your lack of presence!
So this day, I celebrate you. You, mom, have given selflessly to a cause much greater than you. You are the true investment into the future of not only your family, but of our country and our planet. Because of the dedication you have to your family, this world will be a better place.
In the room down the hall lies the next Mother Theresa, President of the United States, Lawyer, Teacher and Pastor. Your sacrificially giving to your children is for so much more than you even realize. Today, I applaud you.
You have made the world a better place today so that our tomorrow is brighter. Thank you, for choosing to be the best mom you can be! Remember you have one of the most important jobs on the planet, no matter what it looks like for you!

“…no matter what it looks like for you.” I love that you included this bit of encouragement, especially!
ps…back atcha =)
Thanks! I just feel that we need to encourage one anther more than tearing each other down. And let’s face it, every mom has a daunting and beautiful task (no matter how she goes about it).
PS- You’re an amazing mom!!!
Well, that just made my morning…I had just wrapped up a big ol’ speech on bickering and needed the boost in mom confidence! =]
Hear! Hear! Rah! Rah! Let the clapping begin and not stop for at least 5 minutes! Mom’s, YOU ARE THE BEST! Your worth far exceeds rubies. Yes, our nest is empty but we had kids in our home for a stretch of 27 years - I’ve been a SAH mom, a single mom with a career, a work from home mom - many, many hats over the years and I sure could’ve used some applause during those times. My daughter homeschools and I am SO proud of her - it is NOT EASY. Thanks Elisse and thanks to all of you awesome Moms!
I echo Victoria, loved your closing disclaimer, “no matter what it looks like for you.” God laid out a cool outline for us, in Proverbs 31, but He also DIDN’T color it in with specifics. I imagine He knew no two moms would be alike. We all have the same outline, but we all color inside the lines differently.
Thanks for this post!
An enjoyment to read! Thanks for the encouragement
