Family Ties
~Why Family?

Family is beautifully delicate. Different personalities, feelings and experiences united through commonalities and commitment. It is a complicated web of characteristics thrown together. The question is, Why?

Instincts tell us it is for our protection and survival but then why do so many end up hurt by the very ones who were supposed to protect them?

I challenge you to think deeper into yourself and into the souls of those who are bound to you by blood, commitment, love or duty.

Family bonds are meant to stretch us into being more than we thought we could be. Through family we love deeper than we ever imagined, hurt to the point of death and protect to the point of pain.

Our egos tell us this is merely selfless but Christ clearly wants us to learn how to have healthy relationships, to put others above ourselves while maintaining our self-worth. Family relationships (whether blood bonds or not) are intended to teach us who we really are and allow us to see others in light of love.

So whether we’ve been hurt or esteemed by our family in the past, allow Christ to use them to teach you the lessons He wishes you to learn. After all, your next breakthrough could lay in the tiny hands you hold as you pray.

Elisse, hurt or esteemed just about wraps up family relations! I’m learning to allow for the stretching instead of fighting against it…hurts a lot less that way! =)

I’ve always thought that with family, there’s ancestry & legacy & I stand in the middle of both. What an opportunity that is! With Christ, to be a change agent for my ancestry & to leave a new legacy.

Its amazing to think of what Christ can do through us, for our families! And for us, through our families. Such a wonderfully delicate place to learn the lessons He would have us learn…

I have always claimed that I had generational blessings NOT generational curses - my family, past, present, and future enjoys and will enjoy the fruit of my prayers. Yet family members can try & test us unlike anyone else - help us Lord!
