~Five Fun (and Free!) Internet Games

Posted by Stephanie Wright on October 22nd, 2010 in Blog | 3 Comments

After a long and stressful week, I need to do something that will help me relax. Oftentimes I find myself online scouring the web for the best free internet games. I have compiled a list of some of my favorite online games so that, if you ever find yourself with time to kill, or just need to take your mind off of reality, you’ve got an outlet to do so.

Game: Cube Crasher

Where to find it: On the Mindjolt application on Facebook

Why it’s addicting: Cube Crasher is one of those simple games you can play for hours. If you like puzzles, that is. In this game, you are presented with a screen of blocks of all different colors. Your goal is to remove the blocks from the screen, and you must remove so many to advance to the next level. But of course, there’s a catch. Blocks can only be removed if they are connected to two other blocks of the same color. The more blocks connected together, the higher the points. Take it from me, I’ve been playing this game for almost a year now, and I still haven’t grown tired of it!

Game: Bookworm

Where to find it: Popcap

Why it’s addicting: In Bookworm, letters are stacked on the screen much in the same way books are. You must combine letters to make words. Letters can only be combined with other letters that are touching it. The more you play, the more challenging it becomes. This game is great in that it keeps the brain stimulated, while making you feel relaxed all at the same time!

Game: Bloons Tower Defense

Where to find it: Addicting Games

Why it’s addicting: This is a strategy game in which you have a road to your fort that you are defending from balloons… You heard me right. An army of balloons is coming to invade and take over your barracks! Your best weapon of defense: monkeys and cannons. Yep. Each weapon has a different style of fighting that helps you defeat the waves of balloons marching towards you. It sounds like a goofy game (and it is), but trust me on this one, your loved ones will have to pry you away from your computer if you start playing!

Game: Bejeweled

Where to find it: Popcap or Dig Bejeweled

Why it’s addicting: Who doesn’t love watching diamonds explode? This game is like a bedazzled version of Tetris, in which you are trying to remove groups of three or more diamonds in order to advance. You can play it timed, or have unlimited freedom to make your choice of which diamonds have to go! Just be careful, you may lose track of time playing this one!

Game: Peggle

Where to find it: Popcap or MSN Games
Why it’s addicting: Did you ever play that game Plinko as a kid? Well Peggle is kind of like that. You have a limited amount of metal balls (at least they look metal, but hey – it’s all virtual so call them what you like!) that you shoot down into a specific pattern of red and blue balls. Most times these balls create a design or picture. The goal is for you to eliminate all of the red balls by the time you run out of metallic balls. Sounds simple, right? It’s not as easy as it seems, and requires some thought, but can keep you entertained for hours!

So there is my list of favorite online games that I think you would definitely enjoy! Of course, you can also check out any of the websites listed above for more free games. Do you have a favorite online game not listed above? Post a comment below and share your opinion!

Pogo.com is a place I stop in a lot - especially in the winter months when the nights are long! My faves: Boggle, Bookworm, and two others but I can’t think of the names!!! (You’ll understand why when you read my blog on Monday!) I guess I’m a dork for games too. HA!
