Heather’s Hints for Hot Bods & Healthy Minds
~The Stupid Stationary Bike

While on a four day long leadership retreat, I decided to get up one morning-at 6 am-to work out in the hotel’s fitness room. I had preconceived notions and high hopes about that fitness room-or rather, that fitness broom closet.
When I walked in, there were 2 ellipticals, 1 treadmill and 1 stationary bike.
Now, if the title didn’t give it away, I don’t like stationary bikes. They’re uncomfortable on your butt and bad for your posture. However, both the elliptical AND the treadmill were occupied by other guests, so I had to use the stupid stationary bike. This was my first frustration.
My second frustration was that the bike was in back of the aforementioned occupied cardio equipment (see picture).
So, while my behind was all uncomfortable, I rode the bike behind the other guests and got to stare at their behinds for thirty minutes, too! AGH!
Working out isn’t really fun.
I don’t think it was ever suppose to be. However, it IS good for the “temple” and although seemingly good “excuses” tend to creep in (i.e., having to stare at butts while riding stationary bikes) we can be purposeful to never let them get the best of us. When we say “Yes” to exercising, we win the achievement and God applauds, smiling at our unrelenting effort!

Heather, this really encourages me-starting Monday, I’m getting back into a routine of running 3 times a week. I should be taking better care of this vessel! =)
Condemnation…….
I know Romans 8:1 backwards and forwards but your post brings judgment on my slack attitude toward exercise since May.
I am laughing at myself and I really LOVED your post!!!!
Loved this!!
I use to HATE running but I’ve recently allowed it to become the time that I either have a conversation with God or spend quality time with my mother.
I enjoyed your humor!
You found a hotel’s fitness room being used? I can’t tell you how many times I am the only person in there.
Effort is the key, and I love your word: Unrelenting.
