Heather’s Hints for Hot Bods & Healthy Minds
~How to “Work it, Girl” on The Inside

My post is going to be somewhat unconventional for the fitness-wellness genre I’ve been assigned.

I know we all know that to be fit we have to workout, eat right, etc. etc. As I’ve come into age, I’ve learned that there’s another component to being fit that doesn’t come from what the body does or doesn’t do. Rather, it comes from what the heart should do-and that is: be confident!

I like to think that in our hearts, we have a tank that God has reserved for confidence-fuel. Often, this particular tank goes unattended, and more sadly, unfilled. If we want a body that can “work it,” and we aspire for longevity of life, we have to make sure that our confidence-tank stays full.

Here are a few suggestions from lessons I’ve learned on keeping that tank full without running on empty:

  • Read books about confidence.
Two of my favorites are “The Confident Woman” by Joyce Meyer and
Search for Significance by Robert McGee.
  • Get Christian counseling!
This has been huge for me. I have a very jacked-up past but, as I have sought Christian
counseling, God has used the counselor to esteem me and to help me see myself the way God sees me!
  • Open your Bible.
The Bible is chock-full of confidence-nuggets. Just look at this:

God created me—in His image as a unique person. His creation gives me worth.
(Genesis 1:27)
God loves me—God is a loving heavenly Father. His love gives me a sense of belonging.
(Jeremiah 31:3)
God planned for me—God wants my heart to be His throne. His plan gives me significance.
(Psalm 139:16)
God gifted me—God gave me natural abilities and spiritual gifts. His gifts give me competence.
(Ephesians 4:7)
God’s Son died for me—Jesus died on the cross for my sins. His death makes me acceptable.
(2 Corinthians 5:16-18)

A fit and well woman is a woman who exercises her body on the outside,
but who also seeks to keep herself confident on the inside.

I pray this encourages someone out there today.

I agree. I just need to find the confidence not to keep certain foods as my best friend. :)

Heather, excellent post. We are body/soul/spirit … last month you “fed” my body, this month my spirit. I’d say you are rounding out your genre!!! Can’t wait to see the nuggets next month!
