My eyes became captivated; button by button, up the beautifully embellished coat as if it were a delectable treat too expensive to be eaten. Every day during my lunch break I would instinctively stop in front of the big department store display, as if I were Audrey Hepburn having breakfast at Tiffany’s. The beautiful chocolate colored coat was accented with golden buttons that looked like they were found in a pirate’s treasure chest. The coat oozed elegance and sophistication that had the ability to make me feel warm even when I stood in the cold, outside the store front window.

This season create an audience and turn heads with the hottest trends.

The Fashionista Rules for Winter Trends:
Rule 1: The Perfect Coat The hottest craze in fashion this season is knee length coats and faux fur accents. The key to a great winter coat is its structure and elegant style. Find tailored pieces that create long slender lines versus a bulky appearance. The traditional colors of winter coats are onyx, chocolate brown and gun metal gray which provide a svelte appeal. If you’re seeking a bold look try a coat in red or leopard and for a trendier style go for a cropped faux fur jacket.

Rule 2: Boots Without a doubt, boots are the staple piece for any winter wardrobe. Designers have pushed the envelope this season making the cold winter hot with thigh high boots. Don’t be alarmed, this trend can be done with an essence of sophistication. Choose a black suede boot with a conservative heel that will allow you to indulge in fashion while still obtaining comfort and modesty. Pair your black suede boots with classic pieces like a crisp white button down shirt, black blazer and tailored jeans.

Rule 3: Leggings Leggings provide the ability to transition your favorite skirts into the winter season. They are available in a variety of prints, textures and colors. For a sleek and elegant image opt for a black or sheer legging paired with a black shoe. If you want to obtain a trendier style, try to incorporate a lace or printed legging with a jewel toned suede pump, it’ll add instant pizzazz to the gloomiest winter day.

Rule 4: Scarf The scarf is often the underdog in the list of winter trends, but a gorgeous pashmina shawl can transform any dreary outfit into a winter ensemble. Pashmina wool is the finest cashmere in the world, but can be found for very affordable prices. For luxury, style and warmth wrap yourself in beautiful pashmina this season.

Rule 5: Color Although the winter season brings cold and sometimes gloomy weather, allow your skin to radiate a warm weather glow. Let your skin be a reflection of a tropical vacation with beauty bronzers. After applying your makeup, be sure to add a touch of bronzer to give your skin the sun kissed illusion, the glow will not only make you look better but will also brighten your mood.

Although you’re adorning your body in the finest winter garments this season, remember that the most important ensemble is the armor of God. “Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace” – Ephesians 6:14
