But God Is Faithful
~You’re Charged, but Not Guilty

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony.” Revelation 12:11a NKJV

Innocent until proven guilty is the slogan for our judicial system. No matter how much evidence the accuser has on a person, until they’ve had their day in court, they’re innocent. What happens if you don’t show up for your day in court? Oh my!

In many instances, if you’re the one being sued (or accused) and you don’t show up, then a default JUDGEMENT AGAINST YOU can be rendered.

In the above passage of Scripture, we’re all in trouble, because right before verse 11 -
there are verses 9 and 10. Who knew?!

9 So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was cast to the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. 10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.”

Wait a minute, did I read that right - we’re being accused DAY AND NIGHT before God?! Oh no - what’s a person to do when the devil is accusing us before the Lord 24 hours a day? We’ve got to go to sleep! We’re at work for a good portion of the day, and we’ve got to do our jobs right. We’re taking care of the kids and our families, going to classes and meetings, running errands. Who’s going to help us - if we don’t show up in court… there could be a JUDGEMENT AGAINST US!

Not if you belong to Jesus!!

In 1 John 2:1 - He’s your Advocate with the Father!

In Revelation 1:5 - He’s your Faithful Witness! (And court is in session!)

In 1 Timothy 2:5 - He’s the One Mediator between God and man!

In Hebrews 7:25-26 - He’s the High Priest FOREVER making intercession for us!

In 1 Corinthians 1:30 - He’s our righteousness, our santification AND our redemption!

In Romans 5:18 - He’s our justification!

In Jude 1:24 - He’s able to present us FAULTLESS!

In Luke 1:69 - He’s our Horn of Salvation!

In John 1:29 - He’s the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

Here we have the devil accusing us DAY & NIGHT - NIGHT & DAY before the throne of God. Now, I know that he’s the father of ALL lies, but since he’s up there 24/7, he’s got to get one or two things right. Maybe we have gone some places that we shouldn’t have. Maybe we did say somethings that we shouldn’t have. Maybe we have entertained some wrongful thoughts a bit too long. Maybe we have.

When your case comes up - all day long - and you’re not there to defend yourself, God the Father looks around to see who your representative is. When He looks on His right hand - He sees the same thing that John, on the Island of Patmos, saw in the book of Revelation - the Lamb of God who was slain from the foundation of the world!!

He sees the One that the twenty-four elders bow down before, night & day - day & night, and sing, “You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood. Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation. And have made us kings and priests to our God; and we shall reign on the earth.” (Revelations 5:9-10)

The Lamb of God says something like, “Father, I’ve redeemed them back to You with My spotless blood. Just as We’ve said in Romans 4:25, I was delivered up as a sacrifice BECAUSE of their offenses, but You raised Me from the dead so that THEY would be JUSTIFIED!”

You’re charged, but NOT guilty! Case dismissed!
